Today is World Water Day which is being celebrated under the theme “Water and Energy”.
Water and agriculture are inextricably interlinked. Agriculture is a major user of both ground and surface water for irrigation—accounting for about 70 percent of water withdrawal worldwide.
Peruse some water initiatives undertaken in the Caribbean:
- Caribbean water sector managers to benefit from CCORAL
- Implementation of adaptation measures to address the absence of fresh water and coastal vulnerabilities in Bequia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines
- Tackling the Caribbean’s Climate-driven Water Resource Problems…
- CERMES Field Laboratory Underway in Belize
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP) seeks to promote a sustainable, integrated and resource-efficient management of water resources in our region. View their World Water Day Message.
